Created in 2007 by the Chadian journalist, blogger and political refugee in France, Makaila.fr is a militant information website that deals with political, economic and social issues related to Chad, Africa and the world in general. It also tackles issues related to migration, human rights and freedom. In 2015, the site participated actively in the drafting and signing of the World Charter of Free Media adopted at the World Social Forum in Tunis.
