In 1932, the League of Nations’ International Institute for Intellectual Cooperation called on intellectuals to exchange views on "the problems facing civilization". One of the first intellectuals contacted was Albert Einstein, who chose Sigmund Freud as his interlocutor. In his letter, Einstein chose the problem of war and posed a number of questions.
